John M. Orza, Senior Geologist

John Orza is a Senior Geologist with Griggs-Lang Consulting Geologists, P.C. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 from the State University of New York at Albany. His education focused on general applications of geology, particularly structural geology.
John worked as a consulting technician at Evergreen Testing in Watervliet, New York in 2001. His responsibilities included sampling and field and lab testing of concrete, blacktop and soils. Since coming to work for GLCG in 2001, John has been involved in most aspects of locating, permitting and operating construction materials mines, including regional exploration, alternative analysis and assessment, field mapping, subsurface investigation, resource evaluation, comprehensive environmental permitting under SEQRA and other applicable rules and regulations, mine planning, troubleshooting, compliance studies, blast monitoring, noise monitoring and impact assessment, traditional and GPS topographic surveying and computer applications.
His fields of expertise include geologic exploration and investigation, aggregate and cement stone reserves evaluation, geologic field mapping, mine planning, environmental impact assessment and mitigation, mine permitting, CADD applications, GIS, and topographic surveying.
John is a member of the New York State Construction Materials Association, the Hudson-Mohawk Professional Geologists Association, and the New York Council of Professional Geologists.
